ATSDR public health assessment
Public Housing Agency. Any state, county, municipality, or other governmental entity or public body authorized under state enabling legislation to engage in the development or administration of low-rent public housing or slum clearance.

Public Housing Authority or Agency
Public Housing Authority—Created by local governments pursuant to Chapter 421, Florida Statutes, local PHAs develop, own, and operate public housing and administer Section 8 programs.

Public health assessment. An ATSDR document that examines hazardous substances, health outcomes, and community concerns at a hazardous waste site to determine whether people could be harmed from coming into contact with those substances. The PHA also lists actions that need to be taken to protect public health [compare with health consultation].
Public Housing Agency. A local organization that uses federal funds to build and manage affordable housing for low and very low-income people.
PUBLIC HOUSING AGENCY. A public agency charged with providing and operating housing for low-income citizens; it often owns and/or operates public housing units. PHAs are locally owned and operated, and thus are locally controlled.
Public Housing Authority. A public agency created by a state or local government to finance or operate low-income housing.
PUBLIC HOUSING AUTHORITY. Municipal bonds issued by local housing authorities to build low income housing. The bonds are secured by the revenues of the local authority and are further secured by the U.S. Government acting through HUD (Department of Housing and Urban Development). These bonds have not been issued since 1974, but since they had original maturities of up to 40 years, they will continue to be available in the secondary market. They are also called NHA's (New Housing Authority Bonds).
Public Health Assessment. The evaluation of data and information on the release of hazardous substances into the environment in order to assess any current or future impact on public health, develop health advisories or other recommendations, and identify studies or action needed to evaluate and mitigate or prevent human health effects; also the document resulting from that evaluation.
Preliminary Hazard Analysis. Analysis performed at the system level to identify safety-critical areas, to provide an initial assessment of hazards, and to identify requisite hazard controls and follow-on actions.
