An electronic quotation medium offered by NASD to members that captures and displays real-time quotes and indications of interest for brokerage firms making markets in equity securities not listed on Nasdaq or on a U.S. securities exchange. OTCBB also allows subscribers to query OTCBB security information as well as the ability to enter volume and price reporting information for OTCBB securities. Participating market makers must comply with the information maintenance and review requirements of SEC Rule 15c-11 on a security-by-security basis, unless the security has an exception under the rule.
The OTCBB is a regulated quotation service that displays real-time quotes, last-sale prices, and volume information in over-the-counter (OTC) equity securities. An OTC equity security generally is any equity that is not listed or traded on a national securities exchange.
