A notice issued by a property owner and landlord, which is designed to let all contractors know that the landlord assumes no responsibility for improvements being ordered by a tenant. To have full effect, property owners must both post the notice in a conspicuous place on the subject unit and be legally recorded with the local recorder's office. If the tenant who ordered the work is unable to pay the contractor (or subcontractor), the contractor cannot file a lien against the landlord's title.
