Definitions for "Nerve fibre"
The long thread-like outgrowth/extension of a nerve cell that carries messages away from the main part of the cell (the swelling called the cell body). Each nerve cell has one nerve fibre, which can travel long distances through the body, before passing on its message – either to other nerve cells, or to the message's final destination, such as the brain, or a muscle.
