In the table-top wargame Warhammer 40,000, the Necrons are a mysterious robot-like race that have lain dormant and unknown by the other races of the universe for sixty million years, and are reemerging in the distant future of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The name is probably from the Greek νεκρός (nekrós), "dead". The Necron race is often referred to as "the Dead Army" or the "Army of Undeath" by games and fans.
