Definitions for "Nasba"
see nucleic acid sequence-based amplification.
This method amplifies a specific RNA sequence by creating a complementary DNA template of the RNA using the enzyme Reverse Transcriptase and primers. This DNA template is generated with a T7 promoter that allows T7 RNA polymerase to make RNA copies of the DNA template. The multiple RNA copies in turn are copied into more DNA templates, and the cycle repeats. RNA levels are measured through the addition of a standard RNA template of known quantity. Using Beacon-style fluorescent hairpin probes, levels of the specific RNA target sequence can be determined by comparison with the RNA standard.
Nucleic Acid Sequence Based Amplification (NASBA) is a relatively new method in molecular biology which is used to amplify RNA sequences.
