A piece of vinyl or metal band can be attached to the four sides of a window. This band or fin is used to nail through when installing a window before the installation of siding.
A vinyl or aluminum extension attached to the frame of a window or door which creates a positive seal between the window and the framed wall. Acts as an additional barrier against air and water leakage. Screws or nails are fastened through the fin to hold the unit in the opening.
A leg of the extended aluminum or vinyl exterior of clad units that forms a 90 degree angle to the window and is positioned flush against the sheeting of the building. Clad windows are easily secured in the rough opening by nailing through the fin into the sheeting and jack studs of the rough opening.
A vinyl or metal flange integrated into (or attached to) the perimeter of a window frame for installation onto the rough opening’s header, jack studs and rough sill. A continuous nailing fin may surround the frame as with an all-vinyl window or a nailing fin may be affixed to the head and side jambs as with a vinyl clad window frame.
An extrusion attached to the main frame of a window used to secure the unit to the rough opening.
A factory installed vinyl strip that is inserted into a kerf in the frame of clad units. Nailing fin installation is the standard method used for installing clad units.

A feature of some windows and patio doors which permits installation and fastening to a rough opening by nails or screws driven through the fin at the top and side edges of the unit, into the surrounding frame of the opening.
