The maximum internal pressure permitted the operation of a pipeline as defined by the Code of Federal Regulations.
Pressure levels set by government standards for different sizes/types of pipe
A rating that indicates the maximum amount of pressure a pipeline or section of pipeline can be operated under Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) regulations under normal operating conditions. This may also be referred to more simply as a pressure rating.
The maximum pressure that the system may be operated at as determined by its components, taking into account function and a factor of safety based on yield of parts or fracture.
The maximum allowable operating pressure of a pipeline may be based upon one of four criteria, which include: design pressure, a hydrotest, flange rating, and a documented, historical operating pressure.
