Mago, the son of Hamilcar Barca, (also spelled Magon) (243 BC - 203 BC), was a member of the Barcid family, and played a major role in the Second Punic War leading forces of Carthage against the Roman Republic. He is said to be the third son of Hamilcar Barca, although nothing is known about the fourth son. Mago has been largely eclipsed by his elder brothers, the famous Hannibal, and to a less extent his brother Hasdrubal as well, nevertheless he also was a great general.
Mago was a Carthaginian writer, author of an agricultural manual in Punic which was a record of the farming knowledge of Carthage. The Punic text is lost, but some fragments of Greek and Latin translations survive.
Mago is a spider genus of the Salticidae family (jumping spiders).
