Definitions for "Lower Heating Value"
Keywords:  calorific, lhv, combustion, fuel, vapor
The higher heating value minus the latent heat of vaporization of the water vapour formed by the combustion of any hydrogen present in the fuel. For a fuel with no hydrogen, the higher and lower heating values are the same (also called the lower calorific value or the net heating value).
Quantity of heat liberated by the complete combustion of a unit volume or weight of a fuel assuming that the produced water remains as a vapor and the heat of the vapor is not recovered; also known as net calorific value. See higher heating value.
LHV, The theoretical heat the combustion process can release if the fuel and oxidant are converted to 100% efficiency to CO2 and H2O vapor.
