A wavelength of ultraviolet light. Some minerals display fluorescence when exposed to longwave ultraviolet light. Commonly abbreviated as LW.
Lasers or LEDs that emit light with wavelengths around 1300nm. When using single mode (9nm) fibre, longwave lasers can be used to achieve lengths greater than 2Km.
frequencies usually at 300khz or lower, although longwave can also mean anything below 530khz. (see beacons above)
It is a wavelength of UV light. Some of the minerals display fluorescence after being exposed to the UV light.
Broadcasting] Radio frequencies that are lower than middle and shortwaves. Much of the energy in longwaves tends to follow close to the trace metal minerals in the ground and sea making the frequencies effective at long distances. The so-called "marine" bands use longwaves. Read more here.
Radio signals 300 kHz and lower in frequency, although this term is often used to mean any radio signal lower than 540 kHz.
Refers to length of the wave or frequency in the spectrum of light. 780 nm is the operating range of short wave lasers, while 1300nm describes the range of long wave lasers.
Electromagnetic energy lying in the wavelength interval generally defined from 4.0 microns to an indefinite upper limit.
The Longwave radio broadcasting band is the range of frequencies between 148.5 - 283.5 k Hz, which correspond to wavelengths between 1000 and 2000 meters. This range is included within the low frequency band (but the low frequency band extends above and below longwave signals). Longwave signals have the property of following the curvature of the earth, making them ideal for continuous, continental communications.
Longwave is an American indie rock band. The band was formed in 1999 by guitarist, songwriter and vocalist Steve Schiltz, guitarist Shannon Ferguson, bassist Dave Marchese and drummer Jeremy Green.
