The local development framework is the portfolio of local development documents which provide the basis for deliverig spatial planning strategy.
Previously known as a Unitary Development Plan, this is a statutory plan which sets out the Council's planning policies in metropolitan districts. It covers a wide range of land related issues and makes provision for industry and offices, tourism and leisure facilities, shops and new homes, while at the same time protecting the environment for the benefit of future generations.
