The stability of a colour, determined experimentally under UV light. Coloured pigment s can fade due to attack by UV rays from the sun, which causes a chemical reaction within the pigment and a change in its structure which appears as gradual fading over a period of time.
Resistance to color fading.
The ability of the fiber to resist the deterioration of color and fiber properties due to the action of ultraviolet light.
the ability of a pigment to resist changing color when exposed to ultraviolet light.
A color's resistance to fading from sun or light.
A color's ability to stay true and unfaded when exposed to light. Top page Memo A larger textile sample, used to view pattern and color for specification.
The degree to which a paper or printed piece will resist a change in color when exposed to light.
The degree to which a paper or ink will resist fading or changing color when exposed to light.
Lightfastness is the degree to which a dye resists fading due to light exposure. Different dyes have different degrees of resistance to fading by light. All dyes have some susceptibility to light damage, simply because their strong colors are indications that they absorb the wavelengths that they don't reflect back.
The ability of a finish to withstand the negative effects of UV light.
Durability of a print when exposed to light. When an ink is lightfast, it has strong light-fade resistance. Read more from Photo printing: When inks ain't inks.
No loss of color due to exposure to light, heat, or weathering.
A term that describes the amount of resistance a dyed fabric has to the damaging rays of the sun.
The rate at which dyes, pigments and paints change colour or get lighter as a result of being exposed to UV or daylight, heat, acids or alkalis. The expected or estimated life of a print can be measured by tests such as the Blue Wool scale (UK) and the Wilhelm laboratory reports (USA). However the lightfastness can be affected by the combination of ink and paper used and therefore all the inks may not fade at the same rate.
How much light exposure paper or film can withstand without losing original characteristics.
