Low Context Learning Object. A Low Context Learning Object (LCLO) is a digital resource that supports teachers and students in the presentation and understanding of learning outcomes. Because of the necessity for a high degree of teacher guidance, an LCLO does not provide sufficient background information for students who are working independently; instead, it is designed to enhance the presentation of information through exploration, illustration, review, or discussion of specific contexts. Teachers will therefore play a crucial role in the function of LCLOs by providing students with any context or supplementary background that is relevant to the learning outcome(s). Given their open-ended design, LCLOs are extremely flexible multimedia resources, as they can be used in a variety of classroom environments and subject areas.
