The frequency band in the 18 GHz to 31 GHz range used for satellite communications. New Ka-band services launching in 2005 will support mid- to high-end computer data and digital television.
Portion of the electromagnetic spectrum in the 18 to 30 gigahertz per second range.
The frequency range from 18 to 31 GHz.
( kay ay band ) is a portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that is used by satellites to communicate with fixed and mobile stations.
The Ka band (Kurtz-above band) is a portion of the K band of the microwave band of the electromagnetic spectrum. Ka band roughly ranges from 18 to 40 GHz. The 20/30 GHz band is used in communications satellites, downlink 18.3–18.8 GHz and 19.7–20.2 GHz, and high-resolution, close-range targeting radars aboard military airplanes.
