Junkyard is a hard rock band formed in Los Angeles by two Texans, David Roach (vocals) and Chris Gates (guitar, ex-Big Boys). Members came and went before they offered the drum stool to Patrick Muzingo, who in turn brought with him bassist Clay Anthony. The final piece of the puzzle was the addition of guitarist Brian Baker, whom Gates knew from the punk circuit when he was in such bands as Minor Threat and Dag Nasty.
Junkyard is a 1982 album by The Birthday Party. The bulk of the album was recorded in London's Matrix Studios with of punk producer Richard Mazda in May 1982 Mazda's previous work with ATV and The Fall had brought him to their attention. Later CD re-issues added the "Release the Bats/Blast Off!" single recorded in London with Nick Launay in April 1981.
