Definitions for "Jemima"
In the musical play Cats, Jemima is a calico kitten and, while usually a chorus cat, plays a role in accepting Grizabella; she is among several kittens (the others being Victoria, Electra, and Etcetera) who trust Grizabella and are pulled away in efforts to accept her. A wide-eyed innocent with an ethereal voice, she truly hears Grizabella's plea for re-acceptance and encourages the older cat for a chorus in "Memory".
Jemima (also written Jemimah), was one of the three daughters of Job named as given to him in the latter part of his life, after God made Job prosperous again. Jemimah's sisters are named as Keziah and Keren-Happuch. Job's sons, in contrast, are not named.
