Jason or John Arne Sæterøy (born May 16, 1965 in Molde) is a Norwegian cartoonist, known for his sparse drawing style and silent, anthropomorphic characters. He has been nominated for the Ignatz Award twice (2000: Outstanding Story and Outstanding Series, 2001: Outstanding Story and Outstanding Series), has received praise in Time Magazine, and has won the Harvey Award for best new talent in 2002. His comics have been published in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, USA, and Germany.
Jason was a Norwegian whaling vessel laid down in Rødsverven, Norway in 1881. The ship, financed by Norwegian entrepeneur Christen Christensen from Sandefjord, Norway, was noted for its participation in a 1892-1893 Antarctic expedition led by Carl Anton Larsen. Additionally, the vessel was noted for reaching 68°10'S, setting a new record for distance traveled south.
