Also known as the info file for a list. When a users issue an " info list" or " subscribe list" command, they receive an automatically generated message describing the list they specify. The file that is sent to them is called the info file for that list. For example, the info file for a list called "quotes" might contain the following: This is the quotes mailing list at Duke University. It is a closed list, maintained by Joe Q. User ([email protected]). Subscribers receive one pithy quotation each morning. The owner of a list may change the info file by issuing a newinfo command.
