Definitions for "Impulse Noise"
Any momentary occurrence of noise on a channel that significantly exceeds the normal noise peaks. Impulse noise is analyzed by counting the number of occurrences that exceed a threshold.
Pulse or pulses appearing at the output point of a data link, which were not transmitted at the input point. Impulse noises are usually caused by external electrical sources, such as lighting.
