Definitions for "Ibâdah"
Worship, devotion, adoration, service (of and to Allah); religious observances. From the verb `abada, to serve, worship, adore. `Abd is one who is totally devoted to God. `Abbada is to make smooth or passable for traffic – by complete and utter devotion to Allah, man's passage through life is made smooth.
Ibadah” means “worship.” The term is, however, much more general than the English word “worship.” It is applied both to specific religious observances such as the prayer, fasting etc. and, much more generally, to any action done for the pleasure of Allah alone. Thus, eating, drinking and interacting with others done with the proper intention are ibadah and one will be rewarded for them.
