The state or quality of being humble; freedom from pride and arrogance; lowliness of mind; a modest estimate of one's own worth; a sense of one's own unworthiness through imperfection and sinfulness; self-abasement; humbleness.
freedom from pride; seeing the contrast between God's holiness and sinfulness. Pride is an attitude of independance from God. The by products of humility include availabililty to God, dependence on God, obedience to God, and submission to God. (James 4:6, "He gives us more and more grace (power of the Holy Spirit, to meet this evil tendency and all others fully). That is why He says, God sets Himself against the proud and haughty, but gives grace [continually] to the lowly (those who are humble enough to receive it." ~AMP)
the willingness to surrender our will, our opinions and our view to the will of God.
The gift of seeing the real and living in proper relationship and proportion to it is the essence of humility. Humility is honesty before the beautiful and awesome authority of the Divine Reality.
