The angle of a screw flight at its periphery relative to a plane perpendicular to the screw axis. It is calculated as: Helix Angle = Arctangent ( Lead) Pi x D)
On a straight thread, the helix angle is the angle made by the helix of the thread and its relation to the thread axis. On a taper thread, the helix angle at a given axial position is the angle made by the conical spiral of the thread with the axis of the thread. The helix angle is the complement of the lead angle. (See also page 1717 for diagram.)
the constant angle at which a helix cuts the elements of a cylinder or cone
The angle at which continuous filaments are placed relative to the longitudinal mandrel axis in the filament winding process.
The angle made by the leading edge of the land with a plane containing the axis of the drill.
is the angle between a tangent to the helix and an element of the cylinder. Unless otherwise specified, the pitch helix is referred to.
The angle made by the conical spiral of the thread at the pitch diameter with a plane perpendicular to the axis.
1. The angle formed by the path of a ply and the major axis in a yarn or tire cord. 2. The angle between the tangent to a yarn and the minor axis of the package on which it is wound. Also called wind angle.
