The extra page, in front of the title page, that offers only the title of the book.
A page bearing only the title of the book. A half title often appears on the right hand page directly before the title page. It is a shortened version of the title page. In contrast, a title page not only carries the title, but also the author's name and frequently the name of the publisher and city where located, etc. If the book is one of a series, the half title may also bear the title of the series.
