Habutai means soft as down in Japanese. It was originally hand woven of single warp yarns and filling yarns of hand-reeled silk, which made it slightly irregular. Habutai is usually a natural, ecru color, and is known to wrinkle less than other fabrics. Habutai is a soft, graceful drape that is easy to cut and sew which requires a gentle touch.
