Graphical environment of an operating system. The Windows and Macintosh operating systems use a GUI. UNIX and DOS are command line operating systems.
industrial term referring to the graphical screen format of an operating system.
A graphical interface where the user uses a mouse, keyboard, icons, and menus to send commands to the CPU. Non-GUI systems would include MS-DOS which required typed commands such as "format a:" to format a disk.
