A chemotherapy agent used most often for the treatment of pancreatic cancer, although being looked at for many other malignancies. It acts by blocking DNA synthesis, and interferes with replication.

A drug used to treat certain types of breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer, and lung cancer. It is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer. Gemzar belongs to the family of drugs called antimetabolites. Also called gemcitabine and gemcitabine hydrochloride.
