A free to enter poker tournament, usually played online rather than at cardrooms. Prizes can range from a cash prize to entry into a bigger or major tounrament.
A poker tournament that does not have an entrance fee. Typically these types of tournaments are used as a promotion by a casino to attract customers and will put up a sum of prize money. Often players will earn a spot in a free roll tournament through credits from previous play at the poker room. Free roll also refers to the situation where two players hands are tied with each other. However, one player has a better chance of winning the pot because they have a flush to break the tie. That player is said to have a free roll.
Tournament without paying fee.
When one player has the opportunity to win the pot even though that player is currently tied with another player.
A tournament where no money is required to enter.
np. 1. A publicity tournament with free entry and cash prizes. 2. Tied hands that may not stay tied. Consider: Player 1: J; player 2: J; the board. Both players made the same straight, but player 2 also has a flush draw. He is guaranteed to at least split the pot, but may also win outright. He has a free roll.
Whenever you have at least part of the pot locked up and you still have a chance to outdraw your opponents, you're said to be freerolling on them. In Hold'em, this happens when you and another player have the same hand at the moment, but you also have a draw to a better hand. At worst you'll tie, but you have a chance to win the whole pot while the other player doesn't. For example, if you hold AhKh and the flop is As6h4h, you have a freeroll on a player holding AdKd. While you both have the same hand at the moment, you might still make a flush, while they can't outdraw you. Freeroll tournaments are tournaments with no apparent entry fee or initial buy-in. Such tournaments are typically promotional events cardrooms host in order to attract players. Sometimes players must clock a certain number of hours in the cardroom in order to qualify, or meet some other requirement.
A situation where a player is certain to win a portion of the pot with a chance to win the whole pot.
a multi table tournament that has no buy-in requirement
a tournament with no buy-in, usually the prize money is put up by the house
A chance to win something at no risk or cost.
Chances of risk-free winning
Tournaments with no buy-in that still contain some sort of prizes.
One player has a shot at winning an entire pot when he is currently tied with another player. For instance, suppose you have Ac-Qc and your opponent has Ad-Qh. The flop is Qs-5c-Tc. You are tied with your opponent right now, but are free rolling, because you can win the whole pot and your opponent can't. If no club comes, you split the pot with him; if it does come, you win the whole thing.
A Free Roll poker tournament is one where entry is free, or comp’d by the house.
Usually refers to a poker tournament in which there is no cost to enter. Also used to describe a situation where two people are, say, all-in heads-up and they both are currently splitting the pot, but one of them has an out to win. That person who has an out to win is "free rolling." For example, on a WPT event from last year, two guys went all in with AQ -- so this is a chop situation. However, on the flop, there were two of a suit and one of the guys had one of the cards to that suit whereas the other didn't. That guy was on a "free roll" as they were most likely splitting BUT if he hit his flush, he'd win outright
In Hold 'Em or other flop games where two players have the same hand, but one also has the chance of improving to a better hand. For instance, both players may have A-K-Q-J-10, except one player has a flush draw and the other does not
