The accounting flexfield represents the chart of accounts. It is made up of segments, and each segment has an assigned name and a set of valeud values. It is used to uniquely identify a general ledger account.
customizable field A flexfield is a customer-defined field and label pair or combination (label/prompt with field/choice list/text area, and so on.) There are 2 types of flexfields in Oracle applications: descriptive flexfields and key flexfields. Descriptive flexfields can also be "contextual", that is, displayed or hidden depending on the selection made in a controlling field.
