Definitions for "FLD"
Fielding percentage, long considered the best means of evaluating a player's fielding ability. It is calculated by adding a player's total put-outs and assists, and dividing by the total number of put-outs, assists, and errors (PO+ ASS)/(PO+ ASS+ E). Many sabermetricians use Range Factor and Zone Rating rather than fielding % when judging fielding ability. See also: RF, ZR. Games played.
