If an unborn child is exposed to alcohol because his/her mother drinks during pregnancy, the child may be born with "FAS." FAS is a disorder characterized by abnormalities in physical and mental development as a result of prenatal alcohol exposure. FAS can affect the child's appearance (i.e., growth and/ or features) and his/her brain development (i.e., thought process and his behavior.)(woman, when pregnant, with it, drinking, her baby/fetus, premature birth, will be at birth)
