FEST (Russian: Факультет Электроники и Системотехники) is a faculty of Moscow State Forest University that specializes in computer science. It was founded in 1959 by initiative of academician Sergey Pavlovich Korolev. The faculty trains specialists that can work in any sphere where computers, information and computational systems, networks and PCs, databases and databanks, expert systems, project and economy management, various electronics, office appliances and other facilities are applied.

The term is used in much the same way as in anything else (such as a 'rock fest' etc.) In fandom, it generally refers to certain times of the year when a group of people devote themselves to writing a certain type of fic/draw a certain type of art etc., sometimes focused on characters and sometimes due to the current season. Often, these activities involve anonymous fic/art gift exchanges. Examples include Smutmus or The Severus Snape Fuh-Q Fest. Another term used in a similar fashion is ficathon.

Short for festival. In Minnesota it can mean MRF ( the fest) or these types of events in general (i.e. a regional variant term for faire).
