Definitions for "F-test"
a function of the variance of the set of group means, the overall mean of all observations, and the variances of the observations in each group weighted for group sample size
A statisitcal test use to determine if a particular hypothesis is true at a predetermined significance level. May be used to determine if a decrease in WSS observed when using a moe complex model is significant (usually at the 95% level).
The F-Test is a statistical measure of the overall fit of the actual observations to the mathematical and stochastic model. The F-value is calculated by dividing the a posteriori variance factor by the a priori variance factor. A well balanced fit is indicated by an value of unity.
