An Executor (male) Executrix (female) is the person(s) appointed and named in a Will to administer an estate when a person dies.
An individual or professional organization, such as a bank's trust department, named in a will to administer an estate upon the death of the owner.
An individual or institution nominated in a will and appointed by a court to settle the estate of an individual. If a woman is appointed, she may be called an executrix. In some states, such individuals or institutions may be called personal representatives.
