Definitions for "Exciting Current"
The current which maintains the excitation of a transformer (the current that flows in the primary) when the load is disconnected. Usually expressed in percent of the rated current of the winding.
This is the measure of current drawn through the input winding of a unit even when not in use (before load is applied). See also Core Loss.
