Definitions for "Excipients"
Substances added to formulas which are required to produce quality tablets, but which do not provide nutritive value. Examples of excipients include monoglycerides (coats vitamins to protect from degradation), magnesium stearate (a lubricant which allows compressed tablets to be pushed out of die punch), modified food starch (thickening agent), etc.
