Definitions for "Epaulement"
A side work, made of gabions, fascines, or bags, filled with earth, or of earth heaped up, to afford cover from the flanking fire of an enemy.
(Retaining Wall) An elevation constructed in order to protect troops and batteries from direct fire of the enemy. Usually composed of gabions filled with earth, or sandbags. In permanent fortifications, considered to be the low stone wall constructed at the top of the rampart.
A parapet or work protecting against enfilade fire.
