Definitions for "Emergency Medical Services"
A system of health care professionals, facilities and equipment providing emergency care.
Services provided in a hospital emergency room after the sudden onset of a medical condition manifesting itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that the absence of immediate medical attention could be expected to result in: Placing the patient's health in serious jeopardy; Serious impairment of bodily functions; or Serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part.
A group of governmental and private agencies that provide emergency care, usually to persons outside of health care facilities; EMS personnel generally include paramedics, first responders and other ambulance crew.
