a federal warning system that is activated by FEMA; enables the President to take over the United States airwaves to warn the whole country of major catastrophic events
A federally established network of commercial radio stations that voluntarily provide emergency instructions or directions to the public during an emergency. Priorities for activation and use are: (1) federal government, (2) local government, and (3) state government. For CSEPP, the EAS will provide supplementary alert and notification for the IRZ and PAZ.
A system designed to permit government officials to issue up-to-date and continuous emergency information and instructions to the public in case of a threatened or actual emergency. It is replacing the Emergency Broadcast System.
