El Capitan is a peak in Texas, USA. It lies within the Guadalupe Mountains National Park. It is the eighth-highest peak in Texas, and is considered the "signature peak" of West Texas.

"El Capitan" is a song by Scottish rock band Idlewild, from their 2005 album Warnings/Promises. It was released as the third single from the album on 11 July 2005 and charted at #39 in the UK Singles Chart (see 2005 in British music).
El Capitan, also called Agathla by the Navajo people, is a peak in Monument Valley, Arizona, over 1500 feet (457 meters) high. It is a few miles north of Kayenta and is visible from State Highway 163.
El Capitan comes from John Philip Sousa's first successful operetta with the same name. Written in 1896, (the operetta itself was written in 1895) this march is like other operetta marches (1897's Bride Elect, 1900's Man Behind the Gun, and 1906's Free Lance) with its use of both 6/8 (parts A & B) and 2/4 (parts C & D) secitions. Also like the Bride elect and the man behind the gun this march has an introduction between part C and D.
