Edit Decision List, electronic or paper list of in and out points of segments used in an edit. Popular Electronic EDL formats include CMX, Sony, GVG.
A text file that sequentially lists all of the edits and individual clips used in a sequence. EDLs are used to move a project from one editing application to another, or to coordinate the assembly of a program in a tape-based online editing facility.

Edit Decision List. A computerized list of edit points for a particular editing production that can be saved and modified to reproduce or modify the production.
Edit Decision List - A single file stored on the editing system's hard disk that contains information for each event used in a video program. When re-editing is required, this information is used to re-create events, exactly as they were initially recorded. EDL events are comprised of data fds, such as source and record VTR inpoints, outpoints, reel numbers, mode (V, A1, A2), transitions (Cut, Dissolve, Wipe), and peripheral device effects data. There can be multiple EDL files on disk.
Edit Decision List. Complete list of time code numbers for each shot and sound used in the off-line edit master. These time code numbers are used to create the final on-line edit master.
