Deep venous thrombosis, or blood clot, treated with blood-thinning medication.
deep venous thrombosis. An abnormal vascular condition where a formation, presence, or development of a blood clot occurs within a vein.
Deep venous thrombosis. A clot that forms in the deep veins of the legs. Please see page on diseases from abnormal clotting for more information.
Deep vein thrombosis. The clotting of blood in the deep veins of the leg or arm.
Deep vein thrombosis. A formation or presence of a thrombus, or clot, within a deep vein.
deep vein thrombosis. occurs when a blood clot is formed in the large veins of the legs; in some cases a blood clot will become dislodged from the veins and travel to the lung where it can cause respiratory distress or respiratory failure; this is called pulmonary embolism.
Deep Vein Thrombosis. a clot in the deep veins of the leg. Further info.
Deep Vein Thrombosis-a blood clot in a vein, usually in the leg, which may cause swelling. If untreated, it can be a cause of death if a portion of the clot breaks away and reaches the heart.
Deep Vein Thrombosis. A blood clot which forms in a major vein producing extremity swelling and pain.
Deep Vein Thrombosis. A blood clot which usually develops in the calf veins. This may produce pain and local swelling. If a portion of the clot breaks free it can be carried up to the blood vessels in the lung and may produce severe chest pain cardiac arrest and rarely death. There are various ways to reduce the chance of complication such as limiting any period of Immobilisation and using prophylactic medications such as Heparin, Warfarin or Aspirin. These act by thinning the blood and making it less likely to clot.
A clot of blood in the veins, usually of the leg
Deep vein thrombosis. This is a blood clot which forms in the deep veins of the body, usually in the leg.
Deep Vein Thrombosis. This is another name for blood clots that form in the deep veins of the legs and pelvis. People recovering from abdominal surgery are at increased risk for these clots, as are overweight individuals.
See Deep Vein Thrombosis.
Deep Vein Thrombosis. a term used to describe a blood clot in a major vein, most frequently in the legs.
deep vein thrombosis. formation of a blood clot in one of the deep veins of the leg or arm duplex scan--a method for diagnosing DVT; sound waves gathered through a microphone placed on the leg create an image of the blood flow through the veins on a television-like screen
Deep Vein Thrombosis. the formation of a blood clot in the deep veins of the leg; associated with a high risk of pulmonary embolism.
deep venous thrombosis. Formation of a clot in the leg veins deep inside the thigh or calf muscle. Bedridden people, particularly recovering from surgery, are particularly prone to this condition, but even passengers on long-haul flights may be affected due to sitting still and not drinking enough water. Deep vein clots (or fragments) may break off, travel with the blood stream to the lungs, where they get stuck. When this happens lung function in the affected part(s) of the lung will cease, and if a large enough part of the lungs is affected the patient will suffocate. To prevent DVT, patients at risk are often pre-treated with preventive drugs, and even after major surgery patients are encouraged to get out of bed as early and often as possible.
Deep Vein Thrombosis. A condition in which a blood clot forms in the deep veins of the legs, pelvis, or arms. The treatment for a deep vein thrombosis includes anticoagulant therapy.
Deep vein thrombosis. a blood clot in the deep venous system (deep veins of the legs most commonly). Depending on the location, it may require blood thinners for treatment.
Deep Vein Thrombosis the blockage of a blood vessel caused by a blood clot.
Deep vein thrombosis. Blood clot forming in deep veins, often with impaired or sluggish blood flow.
Deep Vein Thrombosis. A blood clot that forms in the larger veins of the body, most commonly in the leg.
deep vein thrombosis. Blood clot in a deep vein. These blood clots can cause pulmonary embolus wherein a blood clot in a deep vein breaks loose and travels to the lung where it blocks circulation.
deep venous thrombosis. The formation of a clot in the large veins of the leg. Sometimes referred to as "economy-class syndrome."
A blood clot in a vein (most often a leg) as a complication of decreased venous blood flow. Prevention measures include elastic stockings, range of motion exercises, and specific medications.
Deep Vein Thrombosis. A blood clot anywhere in the deep veins of the body. A DVT occurs most often in the legs, and may break off and travel to other parts of the body, most commonly the lungs.
