Definitions for "Dv/dt"
1. The instantaneous rate of change in voltage over time. 2. A network consisting of a resistor and capacitor that can help protect a SCR from excessive du/dt, which can result from line voltage spikes.
Rate of change of voltage over time. A rapidly rising voltage waveform could induce false firing of an SCR. MOVÕs or R-C Snubber Circuits are used to prevent this false firing.
Literally delta (change in) volts divided by delta (change in) time. It is the slope of or rate of change of voltage over time of a voltage pulse or waveform. It is normally measured in volts per microsecond (V/µs). A modern IGBT drive will have a value of 6000 to 9000 V/µs.
