The use of diversity antennas is the use of two identical antennas for a single radio in an access pointOne antenna is the primary and the other is the secondary. The access point will periodically check the signal strength from each antenna and will use the stronger one. Diversity antennas are intended to be used as a last resort to reduce multipathing. They should not be used as a default. Diversity theory dictates that identical antennas be used and that they be mounted very precise distances apart.
