Gain of an antenna compared to a standard dipole radiator
A ratio, measured in decibels, of the effective gain of an antenna compared to a dipole antenna (see dipole). The greater the dBd value, the higher the gain and, as such, the more acute the angle of coverage.
Decibels over dipole, a relative gain measurement with respect to a half wave dipole (0 dBd = 2.14 dBi) using a standard dipole antenna as a reference.
Gain in decibels referenced to a standard half-wave dipole antenna. This is a more realistic reference to antenna gain.
A technique for expressing a power gain measurement in logarithmic form using a standard dipole antenna as a reference.
Quantification of the gain for an antenna in comparison with the gain of a dipole.
