An arbitrary method of defining a class of connection between devices. Facilitates identification of pin pairs that present compatible flow values, and therefore are more likely to be able to establish a connection. For more information see the topic, KSPROPERTY_PIN_COMMUNICATION.
the connection between the output of one object or process and the input to another
a data item which is 'flowing' from one place to another and is represent by an arrow
Data flows represent a pipeline along which information of known composition is passed. Data flows are modeled in the logical architecture view of the National ITS Architecture. Data flows represent data flowing between processes or between a process and a terminator. A data flow is shown as an arrow on a data flow diagram and is defined in a data dictionary entry in the logical architecture. Data flows are aggregated together to form high-level architecture flows in the physical architecture view of the National ITS Architecture. Select "Hypertext View" from the main menu and then select "Data Flows" to see a complete list of the data flows defined in the Logical Architecture. View the list of Data Flows.
Information that is transferred between processes or between a process and a terminator in the Logical Architecture. Data flows represent "data in motion" in ITS. A Data Flow is shown as an arrow on a Data Flow Diagram and is defined in a Data Dictionary Entry in the Logical Architecture. Data flows are aggregated together to form higher level Architecture Flows in the Physical Architecture. Select "Hypertext View" from the main menu and then select "Data Flows" to see a complete list of the data flows defined in the Logical Architecture. See the list of Data Flows.
The flow of data from the input (in Internet banking, ordinarily user input at his/her desktop) to output (in Internet banking, ordinarily data in a bank's central database). Data flow includes travelling through the communication lines, routers, switches and firewalls as well as processing through various applications on servers which process the data from user fingers to storage in bank central database.
A grouping of traffic, identified by a combination of source address/netmask, destination address/netmask, IP next protocol field, and source and destination ports, where the protocol and port fields can have the values of any. In effect, all traffic matching a specific combination of these values is logically grouped together into a data flow. A data flow can represent a single TCP connection between two hosts, or it can represent all traffic between two subnets. IPSec protection is applied to data flows.
Data flow on context diagram either represents information produced within or outside the system which is used by outside world or by the system itself
Element of a data flow diagram represented by a line with an arrow that shows the input or output of data or information into or out from a process. 14.17
