A desk set usually has an 18" credenza (and may include an ergonomic keyboard kneespace) and a conference table may have a matching buffet credenza (usually 24" deep) to serve as both a storage or extra filing cabinet and to serve luncheons on, sort papers, etc.
A buffet or sideboard, often used as a serving table, with a cupboard below the surface. Originating in the 15th century; a recessed, upper tier was added in the 16th century. Also a horizontal filing cabinet frequently placed decoratively behind an office desk.
A Credenza is a type of sideboard used in domestic or restaurant situations. In dining rooms, it is typically made from wood and used as a platform to serve buffet meals. In restaurant kitchens, made from stainless steel, it provides a side surface and storage cupboards.
