Definitions for "Continuations"
In very broad terms, a continuation is defined as a non-periodical serial which is ongoing. Some may be published regularly, but it is more common that this type of publication is irregular. Frequency is less than annual; otherwise, they are handled as a periodical. Frequency is the most important aspect when defining publications which fall into this category. At Harvard, we have used this term specifically to indicate an on-going acquisition of a non-serial set. In essence, we have used it as a distinction between the acquisition of a serial and a work-in-parts.
