Commonwealth supported courses, which attract a student contribution fee, previously known as HECS. The student contribution is variable, depending on subjects chosen; see individual courses as well as the tables on the Study Costs page.
(previously known as a “HECS place”). The Australian government provides each Higher Education Provider (HEP) with a specified number of Commonwealth supported places. For each of these places, the Australian government provides the HEP with a financial contribution towards the costs of study. Each student holding a Commonwealth supported place must then pay the remainder of their study costs via their Student Contribution.
