Critical Information Advisory Council
(Computer Incident Advisory Center): A group of the U.S. Department of Energy that alerts concerned parties with information about computer security and viruses which may affect other government agencies and the public.
Plans for establishing this team were prepared before November 1988. It was founded as a second-incident response team in the spring of 1989. Its constituencies are sites within the DOE.
CIAC is a calculator that resembles Matlab. It is intended to eventually perform matrix and vector operations, but can currently perform basic arithmetic with many functions such as sines, logarithms, and exponentials.
